Who we are…
Badhus Sauna is the creation of Julie and Max , a duo who, despite not growing up in the Netherlands, fell in love with sauna culture and saw an opportunity to introduce a fresh, social, and urban sauna experience to Amsterdam.
Julie’s passion for sauna began in Copenhagen, where the city’s vibrant sauna and winter bathing scene sparked an idea. In 2022, she put that idea to the test—literally—by launching Badhus as a small pop-up at Café de Ceuvel. The overwhelming response confirmed that Amsterdam was ready for something new.
Max, coming from an investment background, found his way into the sauna world while working with Oslo Badstuforening. His hands-on experience even included helping build a sauna in Belgium before realizing he wanted to create something of his own.
A casual coffee meetup led Julie and Max to join forces, and with the help of their friend Joel and the team behind Klaproos, they transformed an old warehouse behind Café Soleil into Badhus Amsterdam Sauna.
